The WCS SCC supports our school improvement plan with Mental Health Month focus.

We would like to help remove the stigma associated with any mental illness and encourage the WCS students and staff to reach out to a trusted person so you are able to get in touch with the right help to improve your quality of life.  You are a priority!  Mental Health plays a great role in your ability to achieve your full potential. 

The Public Health Agency of Canada defines mental illnesses as alternations in thinking, mood or behavior associated with significant distress and impaired functioning.  They result from complex interactions of biological, psychosocial, economic, and genetic factors.

Mental illnesses can affect individuals of any age; however, they often appear by adolescence or early adulthood.

More common Mental Health Problems:

• Anxiety
• Mood Disorders: Depression, bipolar disorder
• Substance Related Disorders
• Psychotic Disorders

We encourage you and your family to watch and have open dialogue on the weekly videos released at the school website; some of these videos are from former comp students and their journeys.
